On 16 August, the 7th Mülheim company run was once again a great success. The runners set off in dry weather and summery temperatures. The 5.6 km route led from the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences to the Ringlokschuppen. With sporting ambition, our eleven runners really worked up a sweat before successfully crossing the finish line. Afterwards, the after-run party took place, where the day ended with currywurst, refreshing drinks and lots of fun.

Girls’ Day offers schoolgirls from the 5th grade onwards the opportunity to take a look at numerous professions and companies throughout Germany in which women are rarely represented. The girls learn about apprenticeships as well as study programmes in the fields of IT, skilled trades, natural sciences and technology. By gaining an insight on site, many schoolgirls have already gained a perspective and initial experience of where their journey could take them after school. This year, the ELOMECH Group gave schoolgirls the opportunity to gain an insight into electrical engineering at the ELOTechnikum. Whether the girls have now found their dream job remains to be seen. Perhaps Girls’ Day has shown them that technical professions are not only exciting for boys.

Trained staff, personalised care and a specific room design ensure safety, orientation and a speedy recovery. The hospital clown helps very young patients to recover. With hand puppets and a lot of humour, ‘Clownie’ makes them forget their worries, fears and homesickness for a moment. After all, laughter is the best medicine! We are delighted to be able to make a contribution to this.

With the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a delegation of technical teachers from Jordan has now visited the school in Oberhausen. Headmaster Marc Bücker also wanted to present the ELOTechnikum, the ELOMECH Group’s training centre, as a positive example of a high standard of training. The Arab guests were visibly impressed during a tour of the workshop and the forum.
