Data cable as long as a marathon: New building in Frankfurt/Main for the Automobile Club of Germany.
In Frankfurt am Main (Hesse), Elomech Elektroanlagen GmbH and Teloplan Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH provided the complete electrical engineering systems for the newly built eight-storey AvD headquarters. The client is one of the largest and oldest automobile clubs in Germany. In addition to the usual services such as a 24-hour hotline, breakdown service and insurance, it is best known as the organiser of the German Grand Prix and classic car races.
The new building has eight floors plus basement and a gross floor area of 6,400 m². It is mainly used as an office building for around 200 employees. Large storage and technical areas are located in the basement and on the 7th floor, with a conference area for up to 160 participants on the ground floor.
The contract value, including supplements, totalled €1.15 million. From February 2016 to February 2017, we ensured that all electrical systems were installed – and “all” here encompassed a broad spectrum:
- Public authority radio system, BOS
- Fire alarm system (NSC)
- Data technology
- IT connections (1,824 RJ45)
- Lights (700 units, mainly Trilux and Philips)
- Mains replacement system
- NYM cables (29 km of different sizes from 1.5 - 10 mm²)
- Barrier system
- Search and signalling systems
A real marathon could be accompanied by the installed data cables: 42 km of Leoni Pro 1300 were installed, which almost corresponds to the classic marathon distance of 42.195 km. As this was a new build, the scope of work also included the house entry from the public communications network (fibre optic cable) and the low-voltage cables from the transformer station to the low-voltage scaffolding.
